All southbound ferries leave from Mae Haad Pier on Koh Tao — the island's main port, conveniently placed near the dive centres and accommodation on the western shore. Our ferries arrive at Bangrak Pier, Mae Nam Pier or Nathon Pier on Samui depending on the operator, so check your ticket for the landing point before you travel.
Timetable and fares
There are around 20 departures a day, mostly spread from 07:00 through early afternoon — the last of the sample departures leaving at 12:30. Crossing time is around 85 minutes on the high-speed services. Several operators work this route with both standard ferries and faster craft; fares start from THB 500.
October through December can bring rougher conditions in the Gulf; morning sailings are the safest choice during those months. December to April is Koh Tao's high season — we recommend booking a few days ahead if you are travelling during this period.
